Volunteer in Argentina
There are currently no openings for long-term projects in Argentina. New volunteer projects will be announced here when available. To get an idea of what kind of programs are expected, you can check some of the past projects below.

Providing educational support and meals to vulnerable children
Buenos Aires       1 to 12 months

Volunteer project: The theme of the volunteer project is Art, Education, Food and Children’s Rights. Volunteers will help children grow up and be protagonists of their own life.

There are 4 education centers and community kitchens in the south of Buenos Aires. They offer a safe place to more than 650 children in some of the most vulnerable areas in the south of the province. There the children receive “merienda”(milk and cookies) after school and participate in different activities.

Each volunteer will be paired up and will work together with another volunteer in a pedagogical duo. Volunteer duties include helping in the daily activities, preparing the merienda, giving school support, playing with the kids and organizing some educational, recreational and art workshops. Be ready to share your skills and interests with the kids. The activities are taking place in the afternoon. During the weekend, lunch is provided and some activities are organized for the kids, so volunteers’ participation will be expected in Saturday activities.

The volunteers will have weekly meetings to discuss various topics in order to understand and complement their social intervention as volunteers. There will be solidarity activities planned for all the volunteers to have common exchanges, like festivals, workshops in schools, etc.

Duration of the project: The project is running all year round. Arrival is on the 1st day of each month.

Accommodation: Volunteers are hosted in the intercultural volunteer house with a capacity of up to 14 volunteers (kitchen, shared rooms, Wi-Fi). It is located in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires.

Participation fee: $690

Extra fee: 370 Euro for 4 weeks; 75 Euro for each additional week; 2100 Euro for 6 months; 3400 Euro for 12 months;

Art, education and sports activities for children
Buenos Aires       1 to 12 months

Volunteer project: This is a project combining activities for and with youth in two youth centres in the city of Avellaneda, in greater Buenos Aires. The aims of the project are:
- To provide education to children and help families in a creative atmosphere for growth.
- To provide creative workshops through art.
The project involves two different programs in the same place: a kindergarten for children between 2-5 years and an afterschool program for children between 6-13 years. Volunteer tasks involve creative activities, support with children’s homework, sports, etc. The volunteers will also support a program providing art and cinema lessons to young people, focusing on developing skills for creating short films and other artistic productions.

The volunteers will organize leisure activities for the children related to art and sports. They will be placed in workshops with a specific duration depending on each individual volunteer’s stay. Besides they can assist teachers during the lessons. Volunteers will organize art workshops twice a week: cinema, theatre, literature or any art workshop with teenagers. Since the program includes organizing afterschool activities, there is also the possibility to carry out activities during the weekend.

The volunteers will have weekly meetings to discuss various topics in order to understand and complement their social intervention as volunteers. There will be solidarity activities planned for all the volunteers to have common exchanges, like festivals, workshops in schools, etc. In addition, they will also organize activities for youth exchange alongside the other volunteers, such as festivals or cinema nights.

Location: This project is located in Avellaneda, minutes away from the city centre. It is a port city in the province of Buenos Aires, and the seat of the Avellaneda Partido, whose population is 328,980. Avellaneda is part of the metropolitan area of Greater Buenos Aires, and is connected to Buenos Aires City by several bridges over the Riachuelo River. A major rail center, Avellaneda is also one of the foremost commercial and industrial centers of Argentina.

Villa Dominico is a neighborhood located in Avellaneda. Young people who don’t have an adequate space permitting them to develop communication, social, cultural skills, participate in leisure activities in a program designed to encourage them to learn and discover new things. Children come from different backgrounds and vulnerable situations.

Healthy meals and nutrition education for children in Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires       1 to 12 months

Volunteer project: The focus is on the communities of South America where for environmental, social and governmental reasons, citizens struggle to rise above social inequity. The purpose is to help those who constantly battle with the day-to-day socio-economic challenges. Therefore, the aims of the project are to create sustainable social change through building relationships and implementing strategic systems and structures, to provide a platform for transition from subsistence to maintaining a good quality of life for each individual, to actively support current generations in creating healthy and livable communities and plan for future generations to follow in their footsteps. The project provides food every day to children and young people in a slum of Avellaneda. It organizes art and cultural workshops.

Volunteers will help during the daily activities in the communitarian kitchen, cooking healthy food together with local volunteers. Additionally they will assist and organize cultural, artistic and nutritional workshops for children who will attend daily in order to share meals with them aiming to raise the awareness of the population on the importance of maintaining a healthy nutrition.

After-school education program for youth
Buenos Aires       1 to 12 months

Volunteer project: The aim of the project is to support youth development and cooperate with young people aiding them in their effort to complete their secondary education. In addition, the project aims to provide professional support in social, psychological and educative inclusion. The main aim of this project is to provide school support to youth and children: to motivate them, help them with their homework and organize cultural activities with children.

Volunteers will support youth with their afterschool homework. They will work with a group of volunteer teachers helping them with classes such as languages, social science, math, biology, literature, etc. They will work in two different neighborhoods.

The volunteers will have weekly meetings to discuss various topics in order to understand and complement their social intervention as volunteers. There will be solidarity activities planned for all the volunteers to have common exchanges, like festivals, workshops in schools, etc.
