Kindergarten renovation and activities with children in Cascais
Cascais          July 15 - July 29, 2013

Volunteer project: This international volunteer project will be focused on the theme of community development, particularly on contributing to the recovery of the space and structures of a local kindergarten in Cascais. There will be a total of 20 participants from all over the world, 3 leaders and 1 coordinator.

Project objectives:
1. To promote the intercultural learning through the contact with youngsters from different cultural background and activities designed to stimulate that;
2. To promote peer to peer learning (there’s the intention that the participants bring their own ideas, strategies and knowledge to share with the rest of the group members);
3. To stimulate tolerance (namely in what concerns the local population, through
the contact with different people coming from different countries);
4. To motivate youngsters for a more active lifestyle and participation in society, through the involvement in this kind of initiatives connected with volunteer work,
5. To contribute to a visible positive change in the local community, through the
work done by the participants.

The volunteers will help in the improvement of the local kindergarten. They will also promote awareness among youngsters and the local community of the importance of a good maintenance of the school facilities. Throught the project activities, the participants will gain skills and knowledge in what concerns methods, techniques and tools to be used during the painting of the kindergarten facilities and maintenance of the outdoor spaces.

Project tasks:
• Fixing the outside space;
• Painting inside and outside of the building;
• Building bird nests;
• Activities with children;
• Video about the workcamp;
• We also would like to ask you to prepare/think of a small workshop which you could present to the group. Try to keep in mind that it should be something simple and connected with the main theme of the project. Something that you would like to share with others!
Volunteers will be working around 30 hours per week.

Accommodation: In a dorm (6-bedded rooms) in Cascais.

Location: Cascais, Portugal

Youth center renovation project in Cascais

Volunteer project: This workcamp will be focused on the theme of community development, particularly on contributing to the recovery of the space and structures of a local center for children and youngsters. There will be a total of 20 participants from all over the world, 3 leaders and 1 coordinator.

Project objectives:
1. To promote the intercultural learning through the contact with youngsters from different cultural background and activities designed to stimulate that;

They will also promote awareness among youngsters and the local community of the importance of a good maintenance of the center. The group will promote the intergenerational relationship among volunteers, local community and visitors of the center. Through various activities, the international participants will help stimulate youngsters for the development of creativity and artistic skills.

Project tasks:
• Improving the green spaces surrounding the center;
• Renovating the park tables;
• Renovating the table tennis near the park;
• Building a pergola;
• Exterior furniture improvement;
• Walls painting and humidity treatment;
• Building exterior games;
• Video about the workcamp;
