Restoration of tornado-damaged areas and historic villas in Riviera del Brenta
Riviera del Brenta, Veneto       November 12 - November 25, 2016

Volunteer project: In July 2015, a tornado hit Riviera del Brenta area, damaging and destroying buildings, trees, equipment. Restoration of public and private green areas was launched (parks of Venetian Villas on the Brenta Riviera). The volunteers will participate in the arrangement and refurbishment of damaged green areas and tree planting (November 21st is the National Day of the Tree). Volunteers will also participate in a photo workshop that will give rise to a photo exhibition.

The volunteers’ concrete activities will be collection of waste, elimination of weeds and shrubs, planting of trees downed by the tornado, restoration of green areas and historic Villas. They will also help a local group in spreading information materials to sensitize citizens about the environment and climate change. Volunteers will be involved in work activities for about 25-30 hours per week.

Study part: Volunteers will have a photography workshop during their visits in the surrounding areas and to the historic Villas. They will also organize a photo exhibition at the end.

Special requirements: Volunteers must be prepared for manual labor outdoors regardless of the weather.

Accommodation: Volunteers will be hosted in the headquarters of a local association in Fiesso d'Artico, equipped with kitchen, bathrooms and showers.

Location: The Riviera del Brenta is located between Venice and Padova, two cities renowned for their artistic beauty and their history. Numerous Venetian Villas lie along the Brenta Canal and with their parks and gardens make up a beautiful and picturesque landscape. During the project, the volunteers will visit Venice or Padua and the famous Villa Reale of Stra.
