Volunteer in the Philippines

Promote education, culture and awareness in Cebu
Talisay, Cebu       March 1 - March 13, 2017

Volunteer project: The volunteers in this project will promote English language learning in a non-formal way, will help in the organization of the International Youth Day and International Volunteer Day, will raise awareness in the prevention of HIV/AIDs and STD related diseases through capacity building and mobilization efforts, will take part in the most popular Sinulog festival in the Philippines and will be involved in the celebration of Women’s month.

With the support and assistance of social institutions, local volunteers and community residents, the international volunteers will take part in activities such as:
- Help in the renovation of classrooms and facilities like repainting and beautification;
- Assist in the provision of nutrition, health care and wellness to local children and youth;
- Interact with the local children and youth through art, sports and team building activities;
- Cultural exchange through music, games, food, language, etc.;
- Teach English language to the local community;
- Participate in the training and prevention campaign on HIV/AIDS and STDs;
- Experience a rich cultural festival;
- Volunteer advocacy campaign through art and festival.

Leisure time: During leisure time, volunteers can choose to visit various cultural heritage sites, eco-tourism adventure activities or head to the nearest pristine white sandy beaches around the island of Cebu.

Accommodation: The volunteers will be accommodated in a local community facility at the project site. Please, bring your own sleeping bag. Filipino food will be prepared by the local community and the volunteers are encouraged to assist so they can become familiar with the traditional Filipino way of preparing and cooking food.

Location: Cebu City is the second biggest city in the Philippines and is rich in cultural and heritage sites. It is known as “The Queen City of the South”. It is a center of Catholic Religion that draws millions of Filipinos flocking to the city during the month of January to celebrate the Feast of Senior Santo Nino as well as participate in the most awaited Sinulog Festival, the most popular festival in the Philippines.

Extra fee: 250 Euro
The extra fee is intended to support the local host of the project who does not have sufficient funds. It is due upon arrival.
