Psychosocial rehabilitation of disadvantaged
children
Vera
July 7 - July 22, 2012
Volunteer project: The international volunteers will support a local non-profit organization working in the psychophysical rehabilitation of children and youth with disabilities living in poverty and social vulnerability, since 1998, accompanying the families in the process of rehabilitation and social integration. Thus providing a space containing authentic integration, promotion, recreation, education and health where one lives and learns to respect the differences.
This encounter will be based on the relationship with the local
community, the exchange between volunteers and residents to generate
recreation activities with children and teenagers, appreciation of local
culture and addressing suicide from the perspective of the value of
life, from hope, asking ourselves: What is the meaning of life?
Volunteers can contribute from their knowledge and participation in
discussions, chats, and more.
Given the social conflicts that local youth faces, in the first week the
volunteers will be intervening in secondary schools, where they will
talk, exchange activities with local youth and workshops on different
themes.
Workshops will be developed for recreational leisure with children. To
do this we ask the volunteers to think about possible activities and
games. Also, the volunteers will paint the outside of the headquarters
of the center.
They will visit the neighbourhoods of Vera with a caravan, developing
various activities with the local community, to encourage participation
and inclusion of different social sectors.

recipes shared we will develop a workshop "Flavors of the World", we

Reviving the history of Quebrada de Humahuaca
world heritage site
Maimara
September 15 - September 30, 2012
Volunteer project: The Project is based on the
reconstruction of the history of the village, focusing in the first
phase on the modification of local and regional reality from the
declaration of World Heritage of the Quebrada de Humahuaca. The project
is situated in the locality of Maimara, and specifically in the
installations of the sporting club of Maimara, an institution with a lot
of history and very important for the village, which is currently to be
found a semi abandoned state.
Why? So that through memory of the past we can reconstruct the present
and dream about the future. So that we can be critical about our
reality. To stimulate the recuperation of the club and the village in
general.
How? There will be a series of steps, some which will be started before
the Workcamp and some which will be developed afterwards by members of
the Cultural Centre. The Workcamp volunteers will be involved in: The
construction of a photo archive, recuperation of an oral history through
interviews, Recuperation of documentation about the process of the
declaration of the Quebrada de Humahuaca as a World heritage site,
audiovisual and interviews registered about the situation of the
locality in relation to Water, earth, work and the environmental impact
in the Quebrada since the declaration, Reconstruction of the
installations of the club following the plans of 1974 (games area,
general cleaning, roofed area, basket ball court etc…
