Community development projects in Granja do Ulmeiro
       Granja do Ulmeiro, Coimbra          August 1 - August 15, 2007

Volunteer project: The volunteers in this project will be working in the community of Granja do Ulmeiro. The volunteers will be involved in the following activities:
Preparation, implementation and evaluation of a community intervention project that articulates Social Markets with activities that promote intercultural and social sharing between community and volunteers. The volunteers will also visit other regional and local community projects.

Free time activities: Among the different tasks to be fulfilled by the volunteer group, time will be taken to visit the region, namely the city of Coimbra and the beach of Figueira da Foz.

Language: English

Accommodation: Participants will sleep in 1 or 2 collective rooms, equipped with mattresses. Participants will have to bring their sleeping bags.

Location: International Youth Centre in the Village of Granja do Ulmeiro (25 km from Coimbra).
Granja do Ulmeiro is a pleasant village in the center of Portugal, placed nearby Coimbra - an ancient university city, and near to Figueira da Foz - a well known beach for tourism and radical sports. Granja has many daily transport connections, especially by train, which link to cities like Coimbra, Oporto and Lisbon.

Different pieces all come together

Volunteer project: The volunteers in this project will be working in the community of Granja do Ulmeiro. The volunteers will be involved in the following activities:
Preparation, implementation and evaluation of workshops about human rights, launching the mural contest “Different Pieces, All come together”: proposals, negotiating and decision. The volunteers will also visit and participate in activities of other regional and local community projects.

Free time activities: Among the different tasks to be fulfilled by the volunteer group, time will be taken to visit the region, namely the city of Coimbra and the beach of Figueira da Foz.
