River cleaning
in Toulouse area
Volunteer project: The community of
villages Sicoval (South-East sector of Toulouse area) took the initiative to
maintain rivers around its proper zone of competence (36 villages). You'll be
lodged in one of those villages. This international workcamp is a real help to
make this rural area more attractive.
The volunteers will work in collaboration with a team of specialists who will make them
aware of the goals of the maintenance of small rivers. You'll be part of the
cleaning of the river Aises: clearing, cutting and pruning trees, cleaning and
enhancement of the river banks. The work is physically difficult.
Camp language: French and English
Possible free time activities: Hiking, visiting small typical villages in
the roundabouts as well as Toulouse and its surroundings.
Accommodation: In a communal building.
Location: Situated at the edge of Toulouse area, Noueilles offers a
charming landscape, in a region drawn by big fields of cereals productions.
Nearest city is Toulouse (20 km).

Restoration of a church
Volunteer project: Volunteers in this renovation project will
work in 2 sub-groups: the one will do masonry work and the other -
restoration of a church. Part of the work may be done on scaffoldings.
Camp language: French and English
Accommodation: Under tents, on a playground near a lake.
Location: Between the towns of Auch and Montauban.

Maintenance of a former Roman lane / Organizing
the local summer feast
French speaking project
Volunteer project: The municipality is interested in hosting a
group of volunteers to help carry out various projects. Come and give a
hand and discover the local way of life!
The international volunteer group will help with cleaning and clearing
of a former Roman lane. They will also participate in the preparation of
the local summer feast.
Camp language: French
Possible free time activities: Visit the town of Tarbes, hikes in
the Pyrenees.
Accommodation: Under tents; kitchen and sanitary facilities in a
building.
Location: Antichan de Frontignes is located near the towns of St
Gaudens (20 km) and Tarbes, in the Haute-Garonne department. It is
located near the Pyrenees.

Organizing
activities for the residents of a care center
Volunteer project: The "La Foret" centre is a care centre, managed by the French
Association against Myopathy. It receives people suffering from myopathy,
evolutive disease that attacks the muscles and causes serious disorders. Our
association has sent teams of international volunteers to this centre for many
years.
You will accompany the residents in their daily life: activities inside
and outside the centre, excursions, help for meal service, etc. It is
very important to be very motivated by the work proposed in this
workcamp, to be ready for hard work and to be available.
Special requirements: Motivation letter required with application. Basic
knowledge of French required.
Camp language: French
Possible free time activities: Visit of the town of Angers and its
castle, discover the region.
Accommodation: In the centre.
Location: The town of Saint-Georges-sur-Loire is located in the Maine et
Loire department, at about 20 kilometers from the city of Angers. The site is a
bit isolated.

Organizing
leisure activities for handicapped people
Volunteer project: The "Foyer Soleil" is a social centre that receives physically
handicapped people. It belongs to a national federation (Association des
Paralysés de France).
You will take part in the organization of leisure activities for the
residents. It is very important to be very motivated by the work
proposed in this workcamp, to be ready for hard work and to be
available.
Special requirements: A motivation letter is needed. Basic knowledge of
French is required.
Camp language: French
Possible free time activities: Visits of the towns of Caen, Lisieux, St
Lot. Excursion at the seaside (Ouistream, Cabourg).
Accommodation: In the centre.
Location: Next to Caen, the city of Guillaume le Conquérant, Fleury sur
Orne has a privileged geographical location in Normandy: close to Bayeux, the
beaches where troops landed during the last world war... many visiting places,
lively during the summer season.

Restoration of walls and a fountain
Volunteer project: There are variety of restoration works planned in the
frame of this project. Volunteers will take part in the restoration of
walls and of a fountain, will do maintenance work in a park. Another
possible task is the restoration of the roof of a dovecote. Some of the
work will be done on scaffoldings.
Camp language: French and English
Accommodation: In a house.
Location: Located at 24 km north of Montluçon.

Path
restoration
Volunteer project: Located in a calm and green region, the municipality
of St Felicien proves to be very dynamic and persevering to develop an
attractive town. Allured by the idea of international workcamps, it
decided to welcome this year its first group to allow new exchanges on
its territory.
Volunteers' work will consist in the restoration of a path in a place
called "La Roulisse", path formerly used by inhabitants, but now it can
not be used because of the huge vegetation. The aim is to return this
path to villagers and hikers. You will participate in the clearing of
the path and removing of vegetation on the walls, and also in the
rebuilding and cleaning of walls.
Camp language: French and English
Possible free time activities:
- Discovering Tournon (guided tour of the old village, castle, music
festivals...).
- Many hikes around the village. Organising meals and evenings with
local people.
- Visit of the town of Tain (chocolate factory), Romans (shoe museum),
Valence, Annonay (huge industrial inheritance).
- Travel in a steam train in the gorges of Doux (le Mastrou).
- Meeting with other workcamps during an excursion to discover the
region.
Accommodation: In a house (former old people's home).
Location: Village of the green Ardeche, St Felicien is located at
564 m altitude. Its roads in laces dominate exceptional landscapes: the
road of summits offers view on the Gerbier-Mezenc mount, a splendid
veiw-point in the surroundings of Annonay and the mounts of Dauphine.

ST JEAN EN ROYANS

Restoration of
stone walls in a town at the entrance of Vercors mountains
Volunteer project: Interested by workcamps with young volunteers and
aware of the interest and important investment of the population, the
municipality will host its tenth workcamp. Sensitive to the motivation
of the volunteers, this year, the municipality board members propose to
continue the restoration of stone walls in the heart of the village.
Guided by a municipal employee, you will participate in the renovation
of stone walls: staking and removing of old plaster and redoing a new
one on the damaged parts, rebuilding of some parts of the wall which
have started to crumble, rough-casting.

Sport activities such as mountain bike, hikes, excursions, swimming and horse riding,
- Visit of places such as Pont in Royans, La Chapelle en Vercors, the Forest of Lente,
the road of Combe-Laval or the Grands-Goulets,
- Visit of the caves of Choranche or Thais,
- Excursions to Grenoble and Romans; Excursions to the Vercors mountains:
pedestrian hikes and visit of the Museum of Resistance,
- Meeting with other workcamps.
Accommodation: In a municipal house.
Location: Located at the entrance of the Vercors mountains, St Jean en
Royans (3 000 inhabitants) is at the crossroad of the mountain and the valley. This town has
since a long time been the commercial and industrial capital of the area. St
Jean en Royans is a lively place during summer, and starting point for many
excursions. Nearest towns are Romans (27 km) and Valence (37 km).
