   AOUSTE SUR SYE          Rhone Alpes          July 24 - August 13, 2005

Restoration of a public park 
Volunteer project: After several successful workcamps, both at the level of works achieved as well as the impact on the local youth, the municipality decided to invite international young people to lay out a future public park near the new halt-nursery. This future public garden will enable inhabitants and tourists to slacken there while admiring river Drome.
Volunteers will work on the future public garden site: restoration of walls, and creation of a path across it. 
Camp language: French and English
Possible free time activities:
-
Discovery of the Drome valley through visits of villages such as Crest (visit of the Tower, the old village, swimming pool, concerts...) of Saillans (La Magnanery) or Die (ramparts and the cooperative cellar).
- Excursions to Valence and Montelimar. Trips to Vercors or the mountain of the Trois Becs during a weekend.
- Hikes, kayak (Drome), rides, etc.
- Meeting with other workcamps during an excursion to discover the department. Accommodation: Lodging in a school.
Location: With the crossroads of la Drome des Collines and of the southern Drome, of the Rhone valley and of the Vercors, Aouste is a village of 2200 inhabitants living on the farm activity, the craft industry, the tourism, sports activies, and the industry (both traditional such as paper industry, and more recent). Enjoying an enviable quality of life, Aouste is a welcoming town, as in the past: the seal of the village with its old lanes and the Drome river which crosses it, are two of its numerous tourist attractions. Nearest cities are Montélimar (50 km) and Valence (30 km).

   BRASSAC LES MINES          July 24 - August 13, 2005

Renovation of a wagon
Volunteer project: The aim of the volunteer activities in the project will be the renovation of a wagon and other railway material.
Camp language: French and English
Accommodation:
Lodging under tents, kitchen and facilities in a building. Lodging will be on the workcamp site, isolated from the village.
Location: 56 km south of Clermont-Ferrand
Nearest train station: Brassac les Mines

   PIEGROS LA CLASTRE          Rhone Alpes          July 24 - August 13, 2005

Volunteer project: The municipality of Piegros hosted its first workcamp in 1988, to enhance the site of the St Medard chapel. The village of Piegros thanks to its location in the Drome valley, is very much visited during summer. The municipality wishes to propose to the tourists excursions to discover its heritage. It is within this project that the new workcamp will intervene this summer.
Volunteers will continue the renovation and reconstruction of a wall running alongside a path leading to the castle, and also create new footpaths. There will be some work on scaffoldings for the wall reconstruction.
Camp language: French and English
Possible free time activities:
- Discovery of the Drome valley,
- Excursions to Valence and Montelimar,
- Free time activities such as excursions, kayak on river Drome, mountain bike, etc.
- Excursions in Vercors mountains or to the Trois Becs mountain,
- Meetings with other workcamps during an excursion.
Accommodation: In the changing rooms of the basketball grounds and under tents.
Location: Located at 7 km from Crest on the left bank of river Drome, in a valley bordered with vineyards, the village of Piegros is placed on the northern slope of the mountain line which separates the valley of Drome from the valley of Roubion. The village has an original architectural heritage with a feudal castle being restored and the St Medard chapel. Nearest towns are Montelimar (50 km) and Valence (30 km).

   EAUZE          Midi-Pyrenees          July 24 - August 6, 2005

Renovation of a kindergarten and maintenance of green areas
Volunteer project: With the intention to offer to its inhabitants and to the tourists agreeable activities in a nice village, the municipality has hosted workcamps for eight years. The volunteers have contributed to the renovation of the village and have made it more attractive.
Volunteers will work in two groups. The one will do renovation of classrooms (painting) in a kindergarten, and the other will help with maintenance work of green areas.
Camp language: French and English
Possible free time activities:
- On the spot: Cartoon festival, cinema, swimming pool, cultural visits of the village, architectural style, museums, local products, cellars,
- In the surroundings: hiking, lakes,
- Further, magnificent villages, music festivals.
Accommodation: In a building, in the premises of the rugby grounds.
Location: Eauze is one of the most important towns of the department Gers, located 30 km south-west from the town of Condom. Its legendary treasury takes you back to the Gallo-Roman era. Nowadays, Eauze is a very dynamic city, known for its gastronomy, its alcohol Armagnac and its nice way of living.

   CLANSAYES          Rhone Alpes          July 24 - August 13, 2005

Ramparts enhancement
Volunteer project: The members of the municipalty wish to improve the living environment and to enhance the local inheritance. Clansayes has numerous attractions for people who wish to discover its history, culture and landscapes.
Guided by a local employee, volunteers will enhance ramparts. Among the activities planned are: clearing and cleaning, cutting of small trees and feet of ivy, clearing of the vegetation which invades the footpath and covers the ramparts, restoration of the fallen stones.
Camp language: French and English
Possible free time activities:
-
Visit of Grignan (night market and castle), Pierrelatte (crocodiles farm), Montelimar, Suze sur la Rousse... Avignon festival.
- Excursion to the gorges of Ardeche: swimming, canoe, hikes. Visit of the Aiguebelle monastery or the cathedral cellars of St Restitut.
- Meeting with other workcamps.
Accommodation:
Lodging in the village hall.
Location: Located in the southern part of Drome department, the town of Clansayes belongs to Pays de Grignan: 20 km away from Montelimar and 5 km away from St Paul trois Chateaux. Located on a steep rock, Clansayes keeps traces of its rich past.

   BOUCHET          July 31 - August 20, 2005

Restoration of a traditional washing place
Volunteer project: The municipality already hosted groups of young international volunteers for the enhancement of its small rural inheritance (traditional washing place, fountains, martyrdoms...) and these successful experiences encourage the municipality to continue this operation.
Guided by a local employee, the volunteers' work will consist in: discovering the traditional washing place, repairing the roof (removing and cleaning the tiles, replacing cross-pieces, putting tiles again), restoring the walls with traditional techniques (removing of the coating and cleaning of the joints, rejointment of the stones with lime mortar).
Camp language: French and English
Possible free time activities:

Visit of Grignan (night market, castle), Pierrelatte (crocodiles farm), Nyons, Valreas, Chamaret (tower), Montelimar, Suze la Rousse (university of wine)...
- Discovery of the wine activity: visit of cellars and of explotations.
- Excursion in the Ardeche gorges: swimming, canoe, hikes.
- Visit of the monastery of Aiguebelle or of the troglodytic village of Berry.
- Meeting with other workcamps.
Accommodation:
Lodging in a school.
Location: Located in the south of Drome, 30 km south of Montelimar, at the limit of Vaucluse department, Bouchet is a small village of 970 inhabitants where wine culture has been a significant element for the economic growth of the town.

Nearest airport: Avignon
